It is a linguistic and cultural convention within Assamese tea culture to use the term "Red tea" instead of "Black tea" when referring to this particular variety. This is a translation of the term "Ronga Saah" in Assamese, which means "Red Tea" in English. Red tea holds a significant place in our Assamese tea culture.
