Aaravee is named after my youngest daughter. I recall preparing tea with my father during my childhood. This dates back to the 1980s. I watched and participated in my first tea-making activity. There were no small tea growers in our village. It was before the start of the handmade tea industry. My father made Dheki tea for personal consumption using tea leaves obtained from the corporate tea estate. We didn't have any machinery, so we manufactured it by hand, cutting or pounding the tea leaves with Dheki and sun-drying it. It was delicious. I looked for a job for nearly a year after college in 1996, but I couldn't find any. Since we had family land, I began my livelihood with my first tea plantation. In the beginning, I sold tea leaves from my farm to bought- leaf tea factories. I chose to stay organic for the sake of keeping the tea chemical-free and for health purposes. I don't think we ever got ill before. There was a lot less disease 30 years ago. Nobody was diagnosed with diabetes. In addition, we met with several organic supporters and got advice. I'm overjoyed since we don't use any pesticides in our tea farm. From 2016 forward, I began manufacturing handcrafted tea as my father taught me, but I added a handful of scientific approaches to the process. I improved the production process by learning about oxidation, withering, and drying. My family, friends, and acquaintances all gave me excellent feedback and encouraged me along the way. They loved the flavor and aroma of my tea. With Dheki tea manufacturing, I took things slowly at first. People who had tried my tea continued to buy it. I got some support and kept going. I updated and improved on my father's approach by using new equipment. I invested in new machinery to boost output. It is challenging to wither and dry tea during the rainy season. We own an 11-bigha area of land. My family is aware of the work and can provide care in my absence.
