I’ve heard stories as a kid when people made tea by pounding tea leaves using a Dheki and drying those tea leaves to make tea for personal consumption. I heard my grandmother mention it earlier. , most of the tea trees were grown from seeds. Only recently have tea plantations been done using tea cutting. I started my tea plantation in 1997. When I started my tea plantation, I didn’t have the intention of making tea. I started small. Earlier, the tea garden was right next to my home. But the use of urea in some tea gardens hampered us a lot. But from 2012, I completely stopped the use of urea and chemicals. and left the garden as it was for nearly 4-5 years. It was difficult for us to live in the area when we used chemicals. I met one of the senior tea makers and learnt that we can maintain a tea garden without using chemicals. From 2018 onwards, I started making tea full fledged.
