We've been hearing about tea since we were born, since the kettle has always remained in the fireplace. And tea, like a kitchen garden, was formerly found in every home. Every home has its own tea plant, which they pluck seasonally, prepare, and dry. Then we place it in a sunga, or bamboo tube. To consume tea throughout the entire season, the tea is prepared, crushed, and compressed in bamboo tubes and placed above the fireplace, preventing humidity or moisture from accumulating. It's a type of preservation. This is something that has been done in almost every house in the past.  We started commercial tea plantation in 1999. But in our home, we already had tea trees planted by my father, my grandfather, but I don’t know when, every household have these tea trees. Since we are doing something commercially, everyone’s support is there. Thinking that’s the main economy, everyone started. When I started the commercial tea plantation, it was only to sell raw tea leaves. I started making our tea for commercial use, when Peggy Carswell (Fertile Ground) came to Assam. If I dictate about the sacrifices we made, then it will be a book. The need at that time, the financial crisis, how important money is to support a family; we went through a lot of hardship, When we stopped using synthetic chemicals, there were many hardships at that stage, people said you can use artificial chemicals/ inorganic chemicals, why you are working so hard, who will buy it? There were many people who discouraged us. But we went forward with organic cultivation.
